It's hard. Like really really hard (at least for me it seems impossible - I don't just have one sweet tooth, I have at least 32 sweet teeth!).</div><img src="http://static.wixstatic.com/media/34c498_f6d29db04aa9499cb867cac256cf201f~mv2.jpg"/><div><div>But once you start not to give in to your sugar cravings, amazing things happen:</div> you crave less sugar (ha!), no more headaches, more energy (only at the very beginning you might feel the opposite), less mood swings, a clearer, focused mind; a clearer complexion (skincare from the inside out) and it all leads to you as a healthier you. That's what we all want, isn't it? </div><div>Well, it's easier said than done. If you can do it, go ahead, do it. Now. </div><img src="http://static.wixstatic.com/media/34c498_c2b8067a906847eca5b78f8f7071c4c3~mv2_d_3840_4800_s_4_2.jpg"/><div>But if you're like me, then you might not even be able to get through one day without sugar.</div><div>So, how to get around it.</div><div>First, buy smart.</div><div>Buy products in the raw, unprocessed form (of course local, organic, ...). So at least YOU decide how much sugar you put into your meals. </div><div>Then, swap out sugar for alternatives. There's a lot of those on the market - with stevia as probably the best known, and we've tried out a few. </div><div>Our winner: Monk Fruit Sweetener (and no, this is not sponsored, we just love it!). However, as for fair trade and local foods - we <div>prefer spending the extra dollar for our health and community now rather than having thousands of bills later when we are diabetic and sick. </div>But that's just us.</div><div>Also, whatever sweetener you choose: make sure it does not contain other sweeteners (i.e. dextrose). Pour the mixture into an ice cream machine and voilà: super creamy chocolate sugar free, dairy-free ice cream!</div><div>Feel free to add fruits such as fresh berries to top it off. The great thing about coconut milk in the can is that it mimics the texture of heavy cream, so it can dense up and create this beautiful ice cream texture.</div><div>Don't have an ice cream machine? </div><div>You can also do banana nice cream by simply adding frozen bananas (best to freeze very ripe banana slices) to a food processor or blender, and serve it right away. I count until 10, turning around, and shut off the water. </div><div>WOW, I did it! </div><img src="http://static.wixstatic.com/media/34c498_22f2ee6961f9425c8bb9f03ba33a7639~mv2_d_2969_4453_s_4_2.jpg"/><div>The next day, I thought I should probably skip it...hot showers are still much cozier and feel so great. But then...no - I cannot give up already!</div><div>So I continued, for two weeks now. And what should I say? It feels just amazing.</div><div>Every. Single. Morning.</div><div>Finishing your shower with cold water makes you feel accomplished (you did it again!), energized and its a great mood booster. And it gets easier and easier. </div><div>Right now everyone in my family is sick again - coughing, sneezing, runny nose, fever...the whole program.</div><div>Everyone - except me.</div><div>It might be just by happenstance, but I'm not sick. And I am the only one taking cold showers in the morning. So...if you ask me...I think it helps. Our faith is what holds my family together even though we are thousands of miles apart (they all live in Okinawa). Starting each day with gratitude makes life awesome to me. With that my curiosity for taking care of my skin began, but there was too much contradicting information out there, so I decided I wanted to go to school for it and learn the right way. It's also my way of eventually giving back to my mom. Try this scrub instead:</div><div>STINKY FEET SCRUB </div><div>The stinky feet scrub by <a href="http://www.nerdsandnomsense.com/diy-2/diy-stinky-feet-scrub/">Nerdsandnomsense</a> will leave your feet smelling + feeling amazing.</div><div>For the scrub, combine 1/3 cup of raw sugar, 2/3 cup of Epson Salts, 1 1/2 Tablespoons of Coconut Oil, 1/2 Tablespoon of dried peppermint and 4 drops of Tea Tree Oil (anti-fungal properties). Now follow the steps above - scrub your feet and follow with a foot soak. </div><img src="http://static.wixstatic.com/media/d3b1c9cf43cba382d6c124f85854c662.jpg"/><div>After your feet are all nice and scrubby – don’t wipe the scrub off, just place your feet in the warm detox foot soak or simply in warm water.</div><div>Sit and relax for 10-20 minutes. Wipe off any remaining sugar/salt crystals or peppermint particles. Pat your feet dry - and then follow up with a foot mask to give your feet the ultimate soft feel.</div><div>Now after the scrub it's time for your</div><div>DETOXIFYING FOOT SOAK</div><div>To prep your feet for your mask, first soak your feet in a detoxifying and softening bath. Fill a large bowl with warm water, and add the following ingredients to make your own detox foot soak:</div><div>1/4 cup epson salt</div><div>1/2 cup baking soda</div><div>1/2 cup of sea salt</div><div>And for the extra relaxing experience add a few drops of lavender essential oil, or to awaken tired feet some drops of eucalyptus oil (you can also mix both together). </div><img src="http://static.wixstatic.com/media/e35843c4bfc84ca3b8e402072882bf9b.jpg"/><div>Almost there! After scrubbing and soaking your feet they should be already pretty pretty and soft. To bring them into the ultimate foot heaven, give even more: indulge in a hydrating foot mask. </div><div>HYDRATING FOOT MASK</div><div>Your feet carry you all day long, and we usually don't care enough for them. A simple homemade hydrating mask <a href="http://www.marthastewartweddings.com/">by Martha Steward</a> will make your feet soft + supple. </div><div>Simply mix your regular body moisturiser with a few drops of olive oil, zap it in microwave for 10 seconds. If they don't get thick/hard enough, simply add a pinch of salt or a tiny bit of lemon juice. </div><div>It's very important that the food coloring is powdered to have the most beautiful color. </div><div>3. Now you simply need to prepare the macaroons with a pastry bag, with a plain tip, and put small little rounds on the parchment paper. Let sit at least 30 minutes (you can leave it even over night to have the best results!), then put in the pre-heated oven at 300°F (150°C) for about 13 minutes. </div><div>Tip: If the macarons are baked through, the shell will detach by itself. If that's not the case, continue baking for a little bit.</div><div><div>4. Don't let one bad massage ruin that experience. Not everyone is the right fit for each therapist. It's good to do your homework and ask questions.</div><div>How do you stay fit?</div><div>I work out, go the gym, do yoga and get massages when I can.</div><div>What advice do you have for people striving for physical wellness? </div><div>Drink water. I try to do it, but it's so hard for me. And sleep.
